Colorado Fly Fishing Guide Profile: Alan Dunlop
Alan started fishing with his dad at the young age of three when he was entered in a pond competition and won. This was the start of a lifelong love of fishing and the challenge that came with the sport. His family moved to Alaska when he was five where he spent his childhood in the great outdoors and his passion for fishing grew while riding bikes with fishing pole in hand in the Alaskan bush. When his family moved to Idaho he continued to sharpen his angler skills with the help of his dad guiding him in the art of reading the waters and know where those tricky fish like to hang out. It wasn't until Alan moved to Montana with his young family that he truly began his adventure with fly fishing. The Big Sky country called Alan to the water more than his wife really wanted (but she totally supported and still does!), and this brings us to Colorado where he has spent majority of his time chasing trout and other fresh water species. In addition to fly fishing for himself, he has developed the desire to share his passion with others. He has volunteered with Reel Recovery Idaho chapter where he not only is helping and sharing with others, but also is learning from those he works with.
